MAPS End-of-Semester Celebration/ St Mark's Community Health Project Fundraiser

Our end-of-semester celebration is this Thursday April 24 at 5:00pm in the Fine Arts Quad and you are all invited!  Join us for food and fun as we reflect on our accomplishments this semester and look ahead to the upcoming academic year.  We hope you will be able to join us for this event which will double as a fundraiser for the St. Mark's Community Project.

Come be a part of this special event as we recognize our M.A.P.S. members for all their hard work, dedication, and steadfast commitment to the MAPS mission and community at large, bid our 2014 graduating class farewell from MAPS, as well as recognize members of the Barry University faculty and staff who have made substantial contributions to our organization.
EAT + CHAT + PLAY + CELEBRATE

In conjunction with the award ceremony,  MAPS will be hosting the St. Mark's Community Health Fundraiser for the island of Grenada on behalf of Barry’s Nursing Program.   The goal of the St. Mark’s community health project is to improve health care service delivery to poor neighborhoods through the creation of community-based health, service, and research programs.  The funds raised for this program will be used for training a group of local lay community health workers who will acquire the skills necessary to educate their neighbors about breast health, conducting self-examinations, and seeking professional consultations. It will also help community members to summon and utilize the resources necessary to have better access to the health care system. The St. Mark’s project is guided by a community-based philosophy of health care and social planning.

All funds donated go directly to the project. In other words, all team members are volunteers.

For every $600 raised, a lay community health worker (LCHW) can be supported for the length of the project.
