Opportunity

This week's medical students at the University of Miami are organizing head and neck cancer screenings and we are in need of Spanish speakers to help translate. This would be a great opportunity for pre-medical students to meet physicians at UM, medical students, and receive volunteer hours for their medical school applications. The event is this Friday, April 7th from 8am-12pm at San Juan Bosco Clinic. I would greatly appreciate it if you could spread the word to your respective MAPS chapter. Please have interested students contact me at: mta68@miami.edu

Creole Speakers!!

The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine is hosting a free Oral, Head, and Neck Cancer Screening at the Center for Haitian Studies this Saturday, April 8th from 9am-1pm. To make this event as accessible as possible to the community, they're hoping to recruit Creole translators to help the day run smoothly. Morning, afternoon, or full day shifts are available, and snacks and lunch will be provided to all volunteers. Please see the attached flyer for more information about this screening event. If interested, Creole-speaking volunteers can contact Joshua George at jsg58@med.miami.edu with your availability.

Studying Abroad Opportunity!

Good morning pre-meds! Are you interested in studying abroad? Still want to practice in the United States? The University of Queensland School of Medicine Ochsner Clinical School might be perfect for you! The first two years are in Queensland, Australia (specifically Brisbane) and the last two years are in New Orleans and/or Baton Rouge. As a graduate of their school, you can practice medicine in the United States!
Admitted U.S. students will study two years of Basic Sciences at The University of Queensland School of Medicine (in Australia). They will then spend two years in New Orleans and/or Baton Rouge, Louisiana at Ochsner Health System, completing their core and elective clinical rotations. Students will be eligible for ECFMG certification, to take the USMLEs, for the NRMP match, and to practice medicine in the U.S.
