First-ever student health fair at Barry sponsored by MAPS!

MAPS would like to thank the Broward County Health Department and health professionals from Miami-Dade for making this event possible!   On March 13, 2013, students had the opportunity to receive health screenings and health educational materials.  Health fair vendors included MCNA dental plans,  Humana, WellCare Health Plans and The American General Life and Accident Association, representatives of which met with students to discuss the benefits of health care insurance and affordable plan options.  In addition, a chiropractor from Cloverleaf Chiropractic provided neck and spine screening to students and educational materials on spine care, students from Barry’s Podiatry School provided foot care tips, and the Charles Drew Foundation promoted awareness of the importance of donating blood. Students not only benefited from the opportunities offered at the student health fair but, they also got a chance to give back.  The Icla da Silva Foundation, a bone marrow registry which consists of thousands of patients most of whom are children waiting for a match registered more than 30 students during the health fair.  We look forward to doing it again next year!
