Welcome back to the SPRING semester. I hope everyone enjoyed their holidays and you are all excited about the NEW YEAR! My name is SchMiyah Smith and I am the President for MAPS. You are receiving this email because you have expressed interest in learning more about and/or becoming a member of MAPS. THANK YOU for your interest!!
Our first meeting for the semester will be on Tuesday, January 24th at 5pm. The location for this meeting will be determined and shared with you all soon. In the meantime, please sign up to volunteer for the Jack & Jill Health Fair in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. Don't worry if you do not have transportation as carpools will be organized. The Jack & Jill Health Fair is a collaboration between The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and Barry U MAPS. This Health Fair, on Saturday, February 18th from 9am to 3pm will be an EXCELLENT opportunity to rub elbows with current medical students who could potentially serve as MENTORS and will be an awesome way for you all to give back to your surrounding community!!
One other thing. Last semester we held a "What I Wish I Knew Before/About Medical School" event. A tip sheet was created just for you guys and is now available. The tip sheet is attached to this email. Feel free to review the sheet and if you have further questions about applying to medical school, please feel fee to email us OR once you put a face with our names, stop us on campus :-). We are here to help you!
