With the critical need for donors
for the 10 million individuals awaiting a bone marrow transplant, members of
MAPS volunteered on behalf of the Icla Da Silva Foundation, performing
simultaneous bone marrow registry drives in Thompson Hall and Landon atrium on
February 27 signing individuals
up for the Be The MatchTM bone marrow registry. MAPS would like to thank all who signed up to
make a difference in the lives of individuals awaiting identification of a
compatible bone marrow donor. The need is great because family members
are compatible matches only 25% of the time
In partnership with the La Icla Silva Foundation, MAPS will
be sponsoring a second bone marrow registry drive on Tuesday, February 25th,
11:00 am to 3:00 pm. As part of the 3rd
annual “Spring into Your Health,” student health fair at Landon Atrium. We are hoping to find a match for the vast
majority of patients waiting for a match most of which- more than 70%-are
children.
