Pre-Health Organizations Raise Money to Fight Heart disease

Cardiovascular disease affects 1 in 3 adults in the United States. The Barry natural and health sciences student organizations have teamed up and will be participating at the 2012 Miami-Dade Heart Walk on October 6, 2012 to help raise awareness of this statistic as wells as funds to support research and educational initiatives. In an event organized by the Minority Association of Pre-Health Students (MAPS), pre-health organizations on campus participated in a kickball tournament on Saturday September 29, raising $150, with all proceeds going to the American Heart Association. So far, the teams have raised $350+ overall. Participating student organizations included the Barry chapters of MAPS, Tri Beta Biological Honor Society, American Medical Student Association (AMSA), the Pre-Physician Assistant Association (PASA), MALES, and the BMS society.
